Happy New Year

31 Dec

Got an Issue? Here, have a tissue.

How are you gonna spend your New Year’s? Are you gonna party your 2010 away or sit at home and watch other people party away their 2010 on television?

Don’t mean to be a party pooper, but New Year’s isn’t that big a deal for me. My New Year’s countdown was spent counting down the clock with important people in my life and that’s it. This year is going to be a little different because I’m gonna miss someone very bad.

My most memorable New Year’s was the Millennium. Most of you were probably partying away and on the stroke of midnight, holding your breaths to see if the prophecy of the Y2K was true. At the same time, thousands of engineers were probably seated at their server trying to do last minute configurations in a last desperate attempt to fight of the Y2K Bug.

Me? I was taking a huge dump. No shit! Pun totally intended. I actually attended a countdown party near my place with my 2 older brothers. I was 12 years old at that time. Unfortunately, at about 11.30 pm I complained of a stomachache and I really needed to go. So the three of us, walked back home which wasn’t too far away. A good 20 minutes walk brought my angry brothers home to complain to my parents about me. While I was in liberated or liberating, I should say, in the toilet. I knew I was still pooping at the stroke of midnight because I heard a knock on the door and my brother shouted:

“Happy New Year As**ole”

No matter what or how you celebrate your New Year, bear in mind that come Monday you got to head back to work or school. If 2010 was miserable for you, you’ll be expected to improve. If 2010 was great for you, you’ll be expected to raise the bar. So do your best and meet those expectations.

The New Year is like a fresh box of facial tissues. The first few pieces are going to be hard to pull out. You need just one piece, but end up pulling out a few, it’s going to be messy. Hang in there, as time goes by and more tissues are pulled out, things will ease up.

You decide if the New Year is going to be a great one. So make the right choice.

With this, I wish all a Happy New Year and may 2011 be one of the many great years ahead for you. Till next year, see ya!
